Hidden Hollow

Welcome to Hidden Hollow, our little corner of the world.  We're just beginning to build our website so come back often to see how it grows.  While this website is about our goat raising endeavors and our homemade goatmilk soap, it is also about our family.  Please visit us often and keep up with the Canons of Hidden Hollow.

Hidden Hollow is the herd name of our small herd of Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats and it's also the name of our place...and the label name under which we manufacture/sell homemade goatmilk soap.  We raise these critters as a 4H project...and, of course, because we simply love them.  Soapmaking came as a logical way to use the abundance of milk our small herd was producing. You can read all about it on the soap page

We have our herd registered through the American Goat Society (AGS).  While we aren't a large farm...or even a small farm...we are nestled in the northern part of Fauquier County, Virginia, just outside the County Seat of Warrenton.  We are fortunate enough to live in a county that is agriculturally oriented, thus our ability to have our little herd on small acreage, in a semi-rural setting.

Our objective is two-fold.  First, is to produce, in small quantities of course, well-bred, high quality, dairy goats that are people friendly, yet highly functional in the production of offspring and milk. Our first experiences with goats came in December 2003 and we had no idea at the time, just how attached we would become to these critters. Secondly, we produce some of the finest Goatmilk Soaps you will find anywhere.  The Nigerian Dwarf breed is a producer of milk with high butterfat content and it's naturally homogenized.  This makes it a great catalyst for the soaps and provides the quality that people love...high lathering factor in soft or hard water, excellent cleaning qualities, and a natural skin moisturizer that leaves you feeling "squeeky-clean" yet with soft, textured skin after the rinse.  It's even great to use on your hair and provides a natural moisturizer for that as well.

We'll be adding a lot of pictures and stories about our experiences as we continue to breed and raise these God-given critters.  So, come back often and check up on our progress.  In the meantime, please read  "Our Story" and learn how we got started in all this Hidden Hollow stuff.
